As the school semester winds down, the botfly intercession is ramping up! We've got lots of news for you guys and gals so without any further ado, here's a rundown of what's currently in the works for everyone's favorite rock band:
Â
Recording -
That's right folks, it's finally all settled, we will be back in the studio in early January to record the next album. Â After searching around and doing test cuts at several studios, we are pleased to announce we will be working with Matt Mauro at the Pad in Madison CT. Â You can hear the first track we cut there in November "Been In May" on Myspace now! Â We love the sound we get there and are very excited to get this project done.
Â
Music Video -
We are currently planning to shoot a video to go with the first single on the album. Â Shooting will also happen in January or possibly early February depending on time constraints. Â We are stoked about this opportunity to express our art in a new way, and will be working in some really cool places with some really cool people ;) (hint, hint)
Â
Shows -
As you can see, we have stepped up the booking for the month and a half or so between school semesters. Â So COME TO A SHOW! No excuses friends :)
Â
Can't wait to see you guys out there, make sure you come say hi to us if you see us on the road.
Â
Have a Happy and Safe Holiday Season -Â

GO recently asked 5 questions of Liz Wood from the band Botfly. Look for 5 questions with other local bands and bands playing in the region in future editions of GO.
How did your band form? Where and when?
Botfly formed in 2006, originally playing pop music for my (Liz Woodâs) solo pop career. We began to mess around with new, heavier rock songs, and realized they had something great.
We changed our name from Liz Wood and Band, to LWB, and then to Botfly.
With a few member and name changes, we have been Botfly officially since early 2008.
What type of music do you play? Describe it.
The type of music we play is progressive, mainstream rock. The songs are constantly building. They have catchy melodies, and you will catch yourself humming them.
By âmainstream,â I mean you would be able to hear the same style on the radio.
Our songs apply to all ages, we find old and young people coming out to every show.
Whatâs your live show like?
Botflyâs live show is all about energy.
There hasnât been a single show where we got off stage and felt like we didnât give it our all, or are not sweating from head to toe.
We feel as though if we are energetic and passionate while we perform, the audience will feel that.
Why has your band been so successful?
I think Botfly has been so successful because to each of the members, the band is their lives, their drug and their passion.
Every song we write comes straight from our emotions, so every song has a ton of meaning to all of us.
With that said, we push ourselves to promote and write the best we can, so we can play together for the rest of our lives.
Whatâs in the future for your band?
The future of our band is unknown. We look to further ourselves and our career as much as possible.
I know for a fact we want to play with each other for the rest of our lives and we will accomplish that.
A tour is in the works for this summer, and we are of course writing to put out another demo.
